PANGANDARAN – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil recites the rhyme when he opens the 2019 Pangandaran International Kite Festival. “The fish are packed with Ibu Cinta (Atalia Praratya), delicious to eat with the chili paste, West Java is the tourism province, and Pangandaran is excellent”, said the Governor of Java West, Ridwan Kamil when opening the 30th International Kite Festival at the Katapang Doyong field east coast of Pangandaran, Saturday, July 13, 2019.

“With a budget of around Rp. 83 billion from the province, we will improve Pangandaran’s sea side so that as the song Doel Sumbang. Besides the good quality, we will also level it so that one day we can go up to become an international class destination,” said Ridwan Kamil.

Through this 30th kite festival, hopefully it will create a positive image of Pangandaran as a tourist destination. “Support from the inner-city provincial government is currently in the auction process for structuring the east and west coast of Pangandaran,” he said.

Likewise, the Special Economic Zone said Ridwan Kamil was already in the final round and had been approved. “We will work together for Nusawiru Airport so that tourists from ASEAN and Bintan countries can enter Pangandaran so that the target of 5 million visitors with the support of the provincial government, God willing, can be achieved,” he said.

Ridwan Kamil Also said, through this event, it would increase the level of visits to Pangandaran. According to him, visitors came to Pangandaran not only seeing nature but also seeing activities. “So the beautiful combination of nature is not enough, so there must be unique things, besides the kite festival we encourage Pangandaran to make other festivals so that more tourists will come to Pangandaran,” he said.

Pangandaran Regent Jeje Wiradinata said that the 2019 kite festival was bigger both for the participants and for the supporters. “And this part of the regional government designs Pangandaran to be an international class tourist area,” he said.

Jeje also said, the arrangement of the area this year began and the west and east coasts were built as well as roads were repaired, including encouraging events such as the kite festival. “The kite festival this year has the most participants, there are 19 countries which have not been added yet by dozens of participants from other regions and provinces,” he said.

Head of the Area 1 Java Marketing Division of the Ministry of Tourism, Wawan Gunawan said that the progress of tourism depends on the readiness of the regional government itself. And this event is a follow-up of the working visit of the Minister of Tourism Arif Yahya with the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil a few months ago. “The most important thing is the commitment from the local government, we from the center work together,” said Wawan.

According to Wawan, if the region establishes tourism as the core business to build its region to involve the community in increasing the economic value of the community. “The outcome is how many events in Pangandaran are so that the number of visits from both the archipelago and foreign countries increases, both occupancy and transportation rates all move,” he said.

He also added that the Ministry of Tourism was addressing and appreciating serious regional efforts to package all events into a tourism attraction. “So it’s not just ceremonial, but the Ministry of Tourism can provide assistance in packing this event,” he said.

Besides Ridwan Kamil and his wife Atalia Praratya, West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum was also present, Deputy Regent Pangandaran Adang Hadari, Head of West Java Province Tourism and Culture Office Dedi Taufik, and West Java Provincial DPRD member Didi Sukardi. Besides that, there was also an international kite festival event Chaired by the TP PKK Pangandaran Regency, Ida Nurlaela and her representative Renny Widiastuty, as well as a number of officials in the Pangandaran Regency Government.
